Star Wars Galactic Racer Patch Notes: Hotfix & Known Bugs
Star Wars Galactic Racer patch notes tracker: the October 8 hotfix, the developer’s known issues list, PC launch fixes and the planned party-size update.
Editorial update · Source publication dates are listed below · Independent fan guide
As of October 9, 2026, Star Wars Galactic Racer has received one post-launch hotfix, published on Steam on October 8. It raised the minimum graphics driver requirements and addressed stability problems with DLSS options. The next announced change is a party-size increase from 3 to 6 players, which Fuse Games is targeting for the first few weeks after launch.
Update timeline
| Date | What happened | Where it was announced |
|---|---|---|
| October 5 | Developer says it is working to raise party size from 3 to 6 | Official account on X, reported by VGC |
| October 6 | Game launches; developer posts its Known Issues list and revises the FAQ | Steam forum |
| October 8 | First hotfix: driver requirements and DLSS stability | Steam news |
| First few weeks after launch | Party size increase to 6 (target, no date) | Developer FAQ and Discord |
The official patch notes page still read “We haven’t released a patch” when we checked it on October 9. For now the Steam news feed is the more current source.
October 8 hotfix
The hotfix notes on Steam describe two changes:
- Higher minimum graphics driver requirements. The game checks your driver version on boot. If you have to update, the next launch takes longer because the shader cache is rebuilt.
- DLSS stability. The hotfix addresses stability problems with DLSS options.
The notes do not list specific driver version numbers. If the game asks you to update, install the current driver from your GPU vendor and allow the first launch afterwards to finish compiling shaders before deciding it has frozen.
The developer’s known issues list
Fuse Games published a Known Issues thread on launch day and asks players to check it before filing a bug report. These are the entries as last edited on October 6.
| Area | Issue |
|---|---|
| General | Autopilot can rarely steer onto a route that cannot be reached |
| General | The game does not always tell you when a save file is corrupted |
| Interface | Interface Scale drops to 50% after a restart on Steam and Steam Deck |
| Interface | Steam Controller glyphs and the controller diagram are wrong on Steam Machine |
| Multiplayer | Rarely, a Quick Podrace player is returned to the main menu as the race starts |
| Multiplayer | Opening Settings after starting a Multiplayer Tour can change the selected vehicle’s customisation |
| Multiplayer | The spectator camera may show a vehicle upside down or under the track |
| Parties | After a mid-race disconnect, a player who reconnects at the main menu does not fully rejoin the party |
| PC | Switching to fullscreen and changing app focus makes the monitor blink and the system unresponsive |
| PC | Disabling Resizable BAR on the Intel Arc A580 causes flickering and distorted images |
| PC | MSAA upscaling does not work as expected |
| PC | NVIDIA 50-series cards can crash when using Frame Generation with DLSS |
| Steam Deck | The Epic Online Services overlay does not display, so the game appears to hang |
Only one entry comes with an official workaround: on Steam Deck, press B to cancel the hidden overlay and return to the game. The October 8 hotfix mentions DLSS stability, but the Known Issues thread has not been edited to mark any item as fixed.
If the game will not launch on PC
Three things are worth checking in order.
Wait out the first shader compilation. Players have reported the first launch sitting for around ten minutes while shaders compile. After the October 8 hotfix the same thing happens again following a driver update.
Update your graphics driver. Since the hotfix, the game checks for a minimum driver version at boot.
Turn off Frame Generation on an RTX 50-series card. That combination is on the official known issues list.
There is also a community fix that is not from the developer. A Steam discussion thread from October 6 reports that disabling the Windows hypervisor allowed the game to start. Replies are split: of the comments visible when we read it, six players said it worked and six said it did not. Disabling the hypervisor also switches off features that depend on it, such as virtual machines and WSL 2, so treat it as a last resort and report the problem to official support either way.
Party size: 3 now, 6 planned
Online parties are currently limited to 3 players, even though a race holds up to 12 speeders or 8 podracers. The developer FAQ says the team plans to raise the limit to 6 and is aiming for the first few weeks after launch.
VGC reported on October 8 that the official account had confirmed the plan in a reply on X dated October 5, with more details promised. No date has been given, and the change has not shipped as of this update. Until it does, a group of four or more cannot queue together. The multiplayer guide explains how parties, lobbies and AI backfill work today.
Private lobbies and custom races
There is no private lobby or custom race option at launch. Bespin Bulletin quotes a message from the development team on the official Discord saying they have nothing to announce on that front but are listening to how people want to play.
That is not a commitment. Party size is the only multiplayer change the developer has attached a target window to.
What is not on the roadmap yet
Several things players are asking about have no official answer:
- A date for the party-size update.
- A ranked mode schedule.
- Wheel or flight-stick support, which the FAQ lists as not currently supported.
- Split-screen, which the FAQ says is not supported. See the split-screen guide.
How to report a bug
Check the Known Issues thread first, then use the support form on the official help site. The FAQ points player reports and multiplayer ban appeals to the same site.
This page is updated when the developer publishes new notes. The date under the title shows the last edit.
