Star Wars: Galactic Racer is available on PS5, with offline solo modes and online cross play with supported PC and console versions. It released on October 6, 2026, and does not support local split-screen. Performance observations below come from the supplied Digital Foundry test, not an official guarantee for every scene.

What the PS5 version includes

The PS5 release contains the branching campaign, Arcade, Scenarios and online racing. In the campaign, Shade enters the Galactic League and works through run-based tours rather than a simple list of interchangeable races. The paddock provides a place to visit characters and the workshop between events.

There are four official vehicle classes: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers. The classes have different handling identities, and podracers are not simply a speeder with a new visual skin. The confirmed location list contains seven names, not a verified count of seven individual tracks.

Offline modes provide the solo side of the product. Online races provide the multiplayer side, with separate speeder and podracer limits. A PS5 copy does not gain an unannounced mode just because the store also lists online multiplayer support.

Cross play and online requirements

The developer FAQ confirms cross play between PC and consoles. It is enabled by default and can be switched off. If friends use another confirmed platform, this is the relevant feature to check rather than buying the same console purely on an assumed matchmaking restriction.

Online console play requires the applicable platform subscription; check the current PlayStation Store terms for your region. Buying the base game and satisfying an online subscription requirement are separate purchases or entitlements. Neither proves that a game is included in a particular subscription’s downloadable catalogue.

The October 6 FAQ gives a current party size of 3 and a planned expansion to 6. This research does not confirm that the expansion has shipped. Cross-platform saves and progression are 待确认, so supported cross play should not be presented as a promise that one campaign save moves freely between PS5 and PC.

Racer counts and local multiplayer

Online speeder modes support up to 12 racers. Online podracer modes support up to 8, reflecting a separate multiplayer context. These limits should not be reduced to a single “12-player game” badge without explaining the difference.

Local split-screen is not supported, and the PS5 listing identifies local play as one player. Two controllers beside one television therefore do not establish a two-person couch race. Online group racing is a different arrangement, not a substitute that creates a split view on one console.

Private-room options, fully custom online rules and a complete ranked-season system are 待确认 in the supplied official evidence. Some Reddit comments complain about private group features, but individual reports are not a comprehensive feature matrix. Check the current FAQ rather than treating every requested feature as already available.

What Digital Foundry measured

The supplied Digital Foundry analysis observed a rendering resolution of approximately 1296p on base PS5, with temporal upscaling rather than native 4K rendering. Its tested racing content generally held 60fps, with minor drops around some camera transitions. These are the publication’s measurements from its test coverage, not a frame-rate guarantee for all future patches or every possible scene.

The same analysis observed approximately 1728p on PS5 Pro. Higher measured internal resolution is not the same as confirming a separate Pro-only campaign or vehicle set. Hardware comparison belongs in performance discussion, not in a claim that Standard purchasers receive less game content.

Digital Foundry described Unreal Engine 5 rendering features and noticed some foliage or temporal artefacts during close inspection. The footage also showed why fast racing can make still-frame issues less conspicuous in motion. This article does not infer an undocumented quality/performance toggle or a best setting from those observations.

Controller feedback and accessibility boundaries

The official FAQ confirms ordinary controller support and vibration. The supplied Push Square video describes a more detailed DualSense experience, while the research notes a difference between that observation and the FAQ’s wording. Exact adaptive-trigger behaviour and its settings remain 待确认 here rather than being advertised as a universal promise.

The FAQ says racing wheels, HOTAS and HOSAS devices are not supported. VR is not planned in the supplied statement. Owning specialist PlayStation racing hardware therefore does not guarantee that it can be used instead of a normal controller.

A player in the Reddit material discusses button strain and boost interaction. That is a useful accessibility concern to investigate, but not evidence for a verified menu setting on every version. Before relying on a particular input option, confirm it in the current game or official documentation.

Standard or Deluxe on PS5?

The October 7 US store research recorded Standard at $59.99 and Deluxe at $79.99. A $19.99 Deluxe Upgrade was also recorded, requiring the base game. Region, taxes and future promotions can change what your own store shows, so these amounts are a dated comparison rather than a checkout quote.

Deluxe adds three named vehicles, three dedicated Arcade events, an N-1-inspired livery, player-banner cosmetics and a digital art book. The livery is not a flyable Naboo N-1 starfighter. No supplied product description confirms that Deluxe grants all future expansions or earlier access to the campaign.

Physical editions require a retailer-specific SKU check. Digital and physical licence details should be confirmed on the actual product you buy rather than inferred from a Collector’s photograph. The historical pre-order bonus should also be checked against the order terms instead of assumed to accompany every post-launch copy.

Launch problems and buying expectations

The developer’s October 6 Known Issues page includes particular online transitions and party-reconnection behaviour. Those reports do not establish that every PS5 user is affected. The research does not claim that a later patch has already fixed them.

Push Square’s supplied review praises handling, sound and presentation, while noting repetition around pit stops and delays associated with some online cutscenes. Those are attributed review judgements, not this guide’s own hands-on test. Read them alongside the modes you actually want: solo tours, structured challenges or online races.

For a household expecting couch multiplayer, the absence of split-screen is decisive. For friends on supported separate devices, cross play is the more relevant feature. Choosing PS5 should be based on those confirmed boundaries and your actual hardware, rather than on a guessed native-4K badge or an unverified feature promise.
