Star Wars: Galactic Racer has no VR mode, on PS5 or on PC. The developer has said there are currently no plans to implement VR support, PSVR2 is not supported, and the Steam store page lists no VR feature. The only way people are running it in a headset is through unofficial PC mods.
What the developer has said
In a Steam discussion thread, Fuse Games answered the VR question directly: there are currently no plans to implement VR support. The developer FAQ says the same. "No plans" is not the same as "never," but nothing has been announced since launch on October 6, 2026.
The Steam listing confirms the gap from another angle: its feature list includes single-player, online PvP, cross-platform multiplayer, full controller support and accessibility options, but no VR category.
Does it work with PSVR2?
No. PSVR2 support has not been announced for the PS5 version, and the developer's no-VR answer covers all platforms. If you want a podracer seat in VR on a PS5, this game does not offer it. PSVR2 owners with a PC can only try the unofficial mod route below.
Can you play it in VR on PC with mods?
Only unofficially. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5, and some PC players use UEVR, a general-purpose injector for Unreal games, to force a VR view. Push Square quotes a GamesRadar reviewer who has seen "rudimentary VR mods" and hopes to play it on PSVR2 through a PC.
Treat this as an experiment, not a feature:
- It is not supported by Fuse Games, so bugs and comfort problems are yours to solve.
- The PC version uses Denuvo Anti-Tamper with a five-machine activation limit; see the Denuvo page before swapping hardware for testing.
- Mods and injectors can break after patches, and they are unsafe to use in online races.
What immersion options does it support?
Controller support is the main focus: the Steam page lists full controller support with DualShock and DualSense compatibility, and gamepad as the recommended input. Keyboard and mouse are supported on PC, along with controller rumble.
Specialist racing hardware is a weaker area. Bespin Bulletin reported that Fuse Games has no current plans for steering wheels, HOTAS or HOSAS, or full haptics and adaptive resistance. The PC guide covers keyboard, controller and other hardware in more detail.
Is the cockpit view worth it without VR?
The game is built around third-person racing at very high speed, with drifting, boosting and takedowns. Its accessibility settings include camera comfort options, which help if fast camera motion bothers you. For the best flat-screen experience on PC, the system requirements guide explains which hardware holds a steady frame rate.
Will VR come later?
Possibly, but there is no evidence of it. Post-launch content has been promised in general terms without a roadmap, and VR has never been listed among planned features. The DLC page tracks what has actually been announced. If VR is the main reason you would buy the game, wait for an official announcement rather than buying on hope.
