Star Wars: Galactic Racer is available for Windows PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It launched on October 6, 2026, supports cross play with the announced console versions and requires an SSD in the published PC specifications. The developer FAQ says first-launch PC authentication needs an internet connection, even though solo modes can be played offline afterward.
Steam and Epic are the confirmed PC stores
Both storefronts list the Windows version of the same game. Choose the store based on the licence, account and current product terms that apply to you. The supplied research does not establish automatic save transfer or shared ownership between Steam, Epic and console copies.
Steam lists achievements, Steam Cloud and family-sharing support in the research snapshot. Steam Cloud is a store-specific feature, not proof of cross-platform progression. A native macOS or Linux retail release is 待确认, even though the developer discusses Steam Deck use separately.
The Steam recommended-specification table is more complete than the Epic recommended field captured in the research. That is a difference in listing freshness, not evidence that Epic buyers receive a different graphics requirement. Use the published Steam specification values while keeping the source and check date visible.
Minimum and recommended hardware
The published minimum calls for Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, and 12GB of RAM. Listed GPU options are GeForce RTX 2060, Intel Arc A580 or Radeon RX 5600 XT, with 6GB of video memory specified. The storage line is 50GB of available space on an SSD.
The recommended table names an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, with 16GB of RAM. Its GPU choices are RTX 3060 Ti, Intel Arc B580 or Radeon RX 6700 XT. Available SSD space remains 50GB rather than becoming a different download-size claim.
These hardware rows do not publish a resolution or frame-rate target. They cannot honestly be labelled “minimum 1080p 60fps” or “recommended 4K” without separate measurements. Recommended operating-system details and a specific DirectX-version claim should likewise not be filled in from assumptions.
Storage is not the exact download size
The 50GB figure is an available-space requirement. It does not establish the precise compressed download, installation size after a patch or spare space needed during every update. Those numbers can differ and were not individually confirmed by the supplied source.
An SSD is explicitly part of the listed requirement. Replacing it with an unspecified hard drive recommendation would change the source rather than summarise it. If you are preparing a PC, check both capacity and storage type before purchasing.
The system-requirements page gives the exact comparison in a compact table. That page is the better reference for individual components; this article explains how those numbers fit the PC buying decision. Neither page claims to have benchmarked your own machine.
Solo offline play and first authentication
Campaign, Arcade and Scenarios support offline play in the developer FAQ. PC first-launch authentication still needs an online connection. That means “offline campaign” should not be advertised as “install and start without ever connecting to the internet.”
Steam’s listing also identifies Denuvo Anti-Tamper and a five-machine activation limit. The supplied research does not establish the reset period for that limit, so it must not be described as five installations for the life of the product. Store and DRM requirements deserve a separate check if you regularly change hardware.
An older FAQ account-flow description was not retained consistently in the newer material. This guide therefore does not invent a mandatory current sequence of Epic-account prompts for every Steam user. If an authentication problem appears, use the actual error and current official support instructions.
Cross play and online modes
PC can race with supported console versions through cross play. The setting is enabled by default and can be disabled according to the FAQ. Shared matchmaking is confirmed, while shared campaign progress across platforms is 待确认.
Speeder races support up to 12 racers; podracer races support up to 8. The current party size in the October 6 FAQ is 3, with 6 planned. Do not assume a six-person party is already live because it appeared in a future-looking sentence.
Split-screen is not supported on PC either. Connecting two controllers does not unlock a local two-player mode. Private-room coverage, custom rules and ranked-season details remain 待确认 in this source set.
Keyboard, controller and specialist hardware
The developer FAQ confirms keyboard-and-mouse and ordinary controller support. Controller vibration is also covered. It explicitly excludes racing wheels, HOTAS and HOSAS, so a cockpit setup is not automatically a supported way to control the game.
VR is not planned in the supplied official answer. Third-party mods or community workarounds in the Reddit material have not been verified here. This guide does not recommend installing unknown binaries to bridge an unsupported input or display mode.
The supplied gameranx video was based on PC footage and discusses handling, boosting and the build system. Those impressions help explain the racing experience but do not establish a reproducible PC graphics preset for every GPU. Specific best settings remain 待确认 until a dated test records hardware and conditions.
NVIDIA features and launch issues
NVIDIA’s October 6 announcement identifies supported launch technologies including DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction and hardware ray-traced Lumen. Availability depends on the relevant hardware and feature requirements. The presence of these names is not proof that every GPU in the minimum list supports every option.
The developer Known Issues page records particular fullscreen focus problems and some GPU-specific issues. It mentions Arc A580 visual problems when Resizable BAR is disabled and crashes associated with some GeForce 50-series DLSS or frame-generation use. These are documented conditions, not a prediction that every PC player will crash.
Steam and Steam Deck UI scaling could reset to 50 after a restart in the captured Known Issues list. The list also discusses an EOS overlay problem on Deck and the official B-button action. Check the issue matching your device and symptom rather than applying every troubleshooting instruction indiscriminately.
Is the PC version right for you?
PC is a confirmed choice if your Windows machine meets the published component and SSD requirements. Cross play removes the need to match a friend’s console platform solely for online racing. It does not remove licence ownership, first authentication or the absence of split-screen.
Before buying, compare the current Steam or Epic edition description, your hardware and the mode you expect to use. For performance planning, keep official requirements separate from reviews and console measurements. A careful purchase starts with those verified facts, not an invented guarantee of a particular frame rate.
