Editorial update · Source publication dates are listed below · Independent fan guide
Star Wars: Galactic Racer peaked at about 15,400 concurrent players on Steam on launch day, October 6, 2026. SteamWatch logged 15,415. A later reading from Raijin.gg put the all-time peak at 16,814 as of October 10, which would mean player numbers rose after launch rather than falling. These figures cover Steam only.
Launch-week player numbers
| Tracker | Figure | Date |
|---|---|---|
| SteamWatch | 15,415 concurrent (new peak) | October 6 |
| ResetEra thread citing SteamDB | About 15,000 peak | October 6–7 |
| Raijin.gg | 16,814 all-time peak; 16,021 in game at reading | October 10 (UTC) |
| Sensor Tower | 24-hour peak 13,428 | Week of launch |
The trackers disagree slightly because they sample at different times, and Raijin mixes Steam data with its own estimates. Treat the second peak as single-source until SteamDB itself shows it. For comparison, a poster in the ResetEra thread noted F1 25 peaked around 22,000 on Steam.
How has the player count changed?
The early signal is stable-to-rising. Raijin's October 10 reading of over 16,000 concurrent players sits above the launch-day peak, and Sensor Tower's tracking showed activity peaking around 20:00 UTC. A full trend needs weeks of data; check SteamDB's chart page for the live number, since it is the original source most trackers cite.
What do Steam reviews say?
Steam reviews are Very Positive. At launch the game showed 83% positive from about 2,700 reviews; Raijin's later reading put it at 84% from about 3,900. Critics rated it highly too: Push Square called it the highest-rated Star Wars game in over 20 years. The review roundup has outlet-by-outlet scores.
What about sales?
No official sales figure has been published. Raijin estimates roughly 223,600 copies sold on Steam and about $8 million in gross revenue, labelled medium confidence. Treat it as an estimate, not a reported number.
Why Steam charts understate the real player base
Steam is only one of several ways to play:
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions launched the same day.
- The Epic Games Store sells the PC version, and those players do not appear in Steam's numbers.
- Amazon Prime members can stream the single-player modes on Luna at no extra cost; see the Amazon Luna page.
- Cross play connects these platforms in online races, so lobbies draw on more players than Steam alone shows. The cross play guide explains how it works.
Is the game dead or easy to find matches in?
With more than 10,000 concurrent Steam players in launch week and cross play enabled by default, launch-week numbers suggest finding online races should not be a problem, though this is an inference rather than a measured queue time. Speeder races hold up to 12 racers and podracing up to 8. The multiplayer guide covers modes and party limits, including the patch that doubles party size.
